While I don't like iConnectivity's product philosophy, they are the only manufacturer who 'dared the obvious'. The iCA4+ is a very affordable interface: to get the same connectivity you'd either use 2 interfaces with Adat connection or multichannel interfaces with lots of cables, the latter adding 4 AD/DA conversions per channel on a signal roundtrip. While common sense suggests that iConnectivity uses the same firmware for both devices, this isn't necessarily so.ĭeath on a arrival is annoying, but not a big deal (covered by warranty).
Someone mentioned that only the 4+ is 'safe' regarding the multi-host feature (which is the essential part in this context). Iirc you tried an iConnectAudio2+, not a 4+ Some people love them, but I had a bad experience with one and a lot of others have too. If you get one that works - they are notoriously unreliable / DOA The iConnectAudio4+ still rules in this domain
